State law requires hunters to take a course approved by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife and IHEA-USA if applying for a first time license. Beyond gun safety, you will learn about proper handling of a rifle & shotgun, survival/first aid, hunter responsibility, tree stands, map and compass, and landowner relations. For ages 10 and up. An adult must stay with youth under 16. This course involves an online study-at-home portion  (see link below) followed by a required face-to-face skills and exam class. Saturday 9am-5pm. Registration:  $12
