Paper Trails: Exploring Printmaking Session 1: The Art of the Woodcut
with Elizabeth Caton Pardoe
The relief print is the most ancient form of expression in printmaking. Explore methods and techniques in image making through the woodcut process. Create images as fine art prints, illustrations for cards, calendars, bookmarks, journals, books and beyond.
Class discussions and demonstrations lead students through the use of cutting tools and materials, preparing the image, proofing, printing and making editions. Basic tools, water-based inks, wood blocks and papers are provided for use in class. A list of additional suggested materials will be available at registration. All materials can be purchased locally. This course is for novices and the experienced seeking new inspiration.
