Garden Seeds From the Past
with Stephanie Blomquist
In this class we will discuss various grains, vegetables, and legumes that were once commonly grown throughout America on our farms and in our home gardens 50, 80, 100 and even 150 years ago. Many of these plants are not grown anymore in most backyard gardens. Some are hard to find, if not impossible, but there are many plants we can still grow, and maybe even save from being lost forever. We will explore why this is even important in the first place. We will even discuss how to potentially revive extinct varieties of plants for your garden. Participants will go home with a small sample of seeds to take home for their gardens.
Stephanie Blomquist is a very busy mother of four, and a self-employed part-time farmer. She has an avid interest in self sustainability, living off the land and homesteading.
