Foraging for Wild, Edible & Medicinal Plants
with Tom Seymour
This class consists of a classroom seminar at Medomak Middle School followed by an outdoor field trip. At the class session, Tom will give a narrated presentation of on-screen photos of edible wild plants, some of which have medicinal uses as well. All plants shown and discussed are available in the midcoast region of Maine and none are rare, endangered or threatened (most are common garden “weeds”). At the end of the session, participants should have a new understanding of and greater appreciation for these common, useful, healthful and tasty wild treats. The outdoor field trip takes place at the nature trail behind Medomak Middle School. Please bring water, good walking shoes and a snack or lunch to class.
