Table Saw Jigs

What makes any tablesaw most effective are shop-made jigs. The first session of this class will review a dozen different jigs, their use, and how to build them. The second session will be for those students who want to build one or more of the jigs covered. A materials fee will be charged based on the jig chosen.

Instructor Rick Gallion has been a professional woodworker for over thirty years and has taught many students the craft of woodworking. His shop is designed as a teaching facility. All classes will be held at the Clary Lake Woodworking School at 777 Gardiner Road (Hwy 126), Jefferson. Class size is limited. Safety glasses provided for each class.

Tai Chi / Qigong for Balance Enhancement – Level 1

This is an introductory class, suitable for participants new to Tai Chi or practicing at a beginner level. The term Tai Chi, translated from its original Chinese, means “Supreme Ultimate Balance”. So what better activity could there be to enhance your physical balance skills? In class, you will learn to integrate the basic principles of Tai Chi - posture, breathing, slow movements and focused intentions – into specific movement patterns or “gestures”. Starting seated in a chair and moving to standing, we will begin to build a repertoire of movement patterns, all with an emphasis on enhancing balance skills.

Tai Chi/Qigong for Balance Enhancement – Level 2

Pre-requisite: Tai Chi/Qigong for Balance Enhancement – Level 1 

This class is a continuation of Tai Chi/Qigong for Balance Enhancement.  We will build on the balance enhancement mini-form, and learn new gestures to add to our repertoire of Tai Chi and Qigong activities.  As with Level I, we will learn techniques both sitting and standing, and will continue to reinforce the Principles of Tai Chi throughout our time together.

Tai Chi/Qigong for Neck and Shoulder Care – Level 1

Stress and poor posture can wreak havoc on our necks and shoulders, sometimes causing pain and dysfunction. In this introductory class, we will learn to enhance our posture and build fluid movement patterns all with the goal of adding ease to our daily lives.

Throughout this course, you will learn to integrate the basic principles of Tai Chi - posture, breathing, slow movements and focused intentions – into specific movement patterns or “gestures”. Starting seated in a chair and moving to standing, we will begin to build a repertoire of movement patterns, all with an emphasis on improving posture and decreasing stress in our necks and shoulders.

Tai Chi/Qigong for Pulmonary Health

This introductory class teaches Tai Chi/Qigong principles and movement gestures with the aim of promoting pulmonary health.  The word Qi-Gong  means “breath work” or “energy cultivation”, providing a natural means to enhance breathing by lengthening and strengthening the muscles of respiration.  Additional benefits include improved mood, decreased stress/anxiety, enhanced tolerance for walking and lower body strengthening,  All activities can be completed sitting or standing - this gentle practice is accessible to most everyone.

The Detoxified Home

Participants will create and take home four household cleaners made of non-toxic household/pantry ingredients. Participants will learn about creating a healthier home with fewer chemicals and will come away with a better working knowledge of what harmful effects the chemicals we use can have on us.

Heather Emerson is co-owner and operator of Emerson Forge and Homestead in Waldoboro. They create and sell metal work pieces, goat milk products and non-toxic household items. 

The Feldenkrais Method® Session 2

The Feldenkrais Method is a type of neuromuscular re-education that will enable your body to do more than it has in years. These gentle movement sequences will help you work through chronic muscular or joint pain while improving your flexiblility and posture. This is not an exercise class, so loose fitting or stretchy casual clothes are appropriate. Please bring a mat and two thick towels to each class.
