Let’s start at the beginning. Join me for two 2-hour classes and a to-be-determined field trip, based on class interest. We’ll talk about the basics of home decorating including seasonal differences, the fundamental design principles (according to Joanna) which will help to define YOUR design style and answer some of your burning questions about your own decorating challenges. We’ll enjoy a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere sharing photos, and sketches, and dreams for our own spaces.

Betsy Kyle brings a creative spirit and strong work ethic to her interior styling and home decor business, White Pine Home (whitepinehome.me), located in Wiscasset. She loves assisting clients in creating their ideal home.

Strawbery Banke Historic Village and New Hampshire's Premier Fall Festival

Our annual fall trip will combine both the historic 10-acre living history museum of Strawbery Banke and the premier fall festival of New Hampshire in one location. Strawbery Banke offers visitors 300 years of history through its many restored buildings and the stories of the families who lived and worked there. Costumed role players, interpreters, and demonstrations by the numerous crafts people in Strawbery Banke offer a day to be remembered by visitors enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of an earlier time.

New Hampshire’s premier fall festival held on the grounds of the museum is a traditional New England country fair complete with demonstrations by a shoemaker, gun maker, canvas rigger, horner, tinsmith, quilters, and weavers to name some of the occupations you will observe. Livestock exhibits and demonstrations by a sheepherder, animal wrangler, shepherds and herding dogs, and a rabbit warden will complete the day.

Fee includes transportation and entrance to the fair and exhibits. Meals not included. Transportation provided by Northeast Charter and Tours. No refunds after 9/21.

Table Saw Basics (Thursdays)

The table saw is the most important tool in the shop. It does more than just cut wood to exact dimensions; it also does joinery, molding, and with a few simple jigs that you can make, it will also do specialty cuts. Learn how to get the most from your saw, how to use it safely, and what to look for when purchasing a saw. The course will be taught using the amazing new SAWSTOP, the saw with the built-in brake system that prevents injury from a spinning blade. No materials needed. 

Instructor Rick Gallion has been a professional woodworker for over thirty years and has taught many students the craft of woodworking. His shop is designed as a teaching facility. All classes will be held at the Clary Lake Woodworking School at 777 Gardiner Road (Hwy 126), Jefferson. Class size is limited. Safety glasses provided for each class.

Tai Chi for Balance Enhancement

The term Tai Chi, translated from it’s original Chinese, means “Supreme Ultimate Balance”. What better activity could there be to enhance your physical balance skills? In class, you will review previously learned gestures and basic principles of Tai Chi/Qigong. You will progress your practice by learning new gestures selected specifically to enhance balance. By the end of the class, you learn to link these gestures together into a flowing “form”.

Mary Anne Moisan is a Physical and Occupational Therapist with specific training in Tai Chi and Qigong for rehabilitation. Specific certifications include: Balance Enhancement Specialist, Neck and Shoulder Dysfunction, Tai Chi for Pulmonary Health.

Tai Chi/Qigong Basics (Tuesdays)

This class is for people new to Tai Chi/Qigong. Using slow, fluid and rounded movements you will learn to integrate the basic principles of Tai Chi and Qigong into specific movement patterns or “gestures”. We will coordinate our gestures with breathing patterns and imagery to create a type of moving meditation. This gentle movement activity is accessible to individuals of all fitness levels, and is taught and practiced both sitting and standing. This class is presented as a foundation for more specialized classes offered by this instructor.

Mary Anne Moisan is a Physical and Occupational Therapist with specific training in Tai Chi and Qigong for rehabilitation. Specific certifications include: Balance Enhancement Specialist, Neck and Shoulder Dysfunction, Tai Chi for Pulmonary Health.
