Participants will enjoy a pre-holiday party with Chef Toy as you work together to prepare crispy fried wontons and homemade duck sauce, mini egg rolls, teriyaki party wings, and cold spicy sesame noodles. Yum!

ATV & Snowmobile Safety

Participation in an ATV education course will teach you how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Passage of a final exam is required. You must attend every day of the class in order to receive your certificate.

Creative Writing Workshop - Session 4

This ongoing workshop offers participants an opportunity to get the creative juices flowing, overcome the internal critic, and let heart and soul flow out onto the page! Just as importantly, it also provides a tight knit, supportive community of fellow writers with whom to share the fruits of your labor. The instructor, Elizabeth Potter, will present proven writing prompts and techniques to tickle your muse and coax even the most hesitant voice onto the page.

Elizabeth Potter is a teacher and poet residing in midcoast Maine. Her new collection of poetry “T’ai Chi of Leaves” was released by Moon Pie press in September 2016. Her poems have also been widely published in literary journals both locally and nationally. Elizabeth has been leading creative writing workshops for all ages for the past seventeen years.

Darling Needle Felted Animals

In this two-evening class each participant will make one or more cozy soft small mammals or birds of their choice out of wool and use the needle felting method to create the features of their new friend. In the past, popular choices were bears, penguins and ducks. A material fee of $10 (included in the cost) covers all wool and armature materials, plus one felting needle. You may create a treasured gift or something to keep for yourself. No experience required! Bring your glasses if you wear them for close vision. Young people aged 12 and up may attend with an adult. Class size is limited.

Debra Arter holds a MA in Fine Art and has been teaching adults various art processes for many years. She has worked on her needle felting projects even while on an airplane!

Getting Paid to Talk – Intro to Voice Acting

This exciting class will explore numerous aspects of voice-over work for television, film, radio, audio books, documentaries and the Internet in your area. We will cover all the basics, including how to prepare the all-important demo, and how to be successful and earn great income in this exciting field. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to hear examples of demos recorded by professional voice actors.

Class participants will even have a chance to record a commercial script under the direction of a real producer! This class is informative, lots of fun, and a great first step for anyone interested in voice acting professionally.

The only thing better than pasta, is your own freshly rolled and cut pasta. Join Chris for this hands-on class and learn the secrets to making fresh pasta at home in just a few minutes! Chris will show you how easy it is to use a hand powered pasta maker to create fettuccine and spaghetti. If you have a dusty one sitting at home, feel free to bring it to class! Then enjoy your pasta with some delicious, simple-to-make sauces.

In the Know - In the Dough

Who can resist the smell of fresh bread baking? In this one-night class we will learn how to mix, knead, proof and shape basic yeast dough. Participants will learn how to create cloverleaf rolls, butter crescents, cinnamon swirls, tea rings, whole-wheat and caramel pecan rolls as well as an economical savory braid that comes together quickly.

You will learn what gluten is all about! Various yeast bread recipes will be shared and discussed. Each student will go home with a basket of yummy warm samples. All baking levels are welcome for this hands-on class. Bring an apron, rolling pin, cutting board and two plastic tubs to fill and take home. Take this class and then show your bread prowess at your holiday dinner this year!!

 

Debra Arter has been teaching cooking classes to adults for nearly a decade. Her Home Ec. teacher mother instilled in her a love of creative and healthy food preparation. She has participated in many cooking contests and was a finalist for a trip to Italy with her original pasta carbonara recipe. Her love of inspired community building through cooking events is contagious.
